pquitslund@google.com 0aeb29e533 Hacking format of Expect failure messages to play nice with rendered HTML. 
The culprits are the '<' and '>' in this bit:

  _fail("Expect.equals(expected: <$expected>, actual: <$actual>$msg) fails.")

in Expect.equals(..) which cause $expected and $actual to get treated as tags when
the message is shoveled (untreated) into an HTML page as one might do when rendering
test run results in an HTML page (e.g., http://codereview.chromium.org/9034030/).

This here *hack* sidesteps the issue but it's neither elegant nor properly
placed (methinks).  The question is, how should this problem get fixed for real?
Thoughts/redirects greatly appreciated!

pquitslund@google.com 3341e8d3db Fix to workaround non-propagation of exception stack-traces by dartc. 
Net-net: The previous work-around, assigning '' to the trace var inside the try block, had stopped working.  Somewhere along the line dartc started properly respecting try/catch block scoping of vars.

In an attempt to verify that this fix hasn't broken anything unexpected, I ran test.py and confirmed that all tests still pased and re-ran it with a broken test and confirmed that a stack trace was emitted.

Here's how I built and ran:

./tools/build.py --arch=ia32
./tools/test.py --mode=release --component=dartium client -v --keep_temporary_files

rnystrom@google.com 97d0ea9c71 Move test(), group(), and expect() to top level. 
Instead of being methods on UnitTestSuite, they will automatically create
one if there isn't already one, then run it. This lets you define tests just
like:

main() {
  test('not crazy', () {
    expect(sky) == blue;
  });
}
