Sam Rawlins b0471a2ced Analyzer: rearrange invalid_assignment tests for null safety
I started trying to move checker_tests out from that very old test
class into invalid_assignment, and it was overwhelming. I rolled back
most of the work and kept this part.

Jens Johansen ad596359a6 [VM] Only run FFI transformation when dart:ffi is imported
Before this CL the FFI transformation was always run (for target VM),
so if for instance running dart2js (from source), e.g. like
`out/ReleaseX64/dart -DDFE_VERBOSE=true pkg/compiler/bin/dart2js.dart --help`
one could see how it spends something like 120-140 ms, which is
something along the lines of 2.5% of the entire request processing
(i.e. compile and serialization).

This CL first checks if dart:ffi is imported at all. If it's not the
transformation is skipped.
When compiling dart2js (where, at least currently, dart:ffi is not used)
this skips the transformation, thus saving the 120-140 ms (or ~2.5%).

All measurements on my machine. Your mileage may vary.

TEST=Existing tests.

Ideally we want to create Workspace only once, and pass it around.
I was not able to do this yet, because DAS ContextManager kind of
dynamically updates contexts and drivers. I expect to avoid this issue
by switching DAS soon to AnalysisContextCollection.

I will follow with a bigger CL that keeps Workspace in ContextRoot.

Ryan Macnak 109d963bf9 [vm] Use 31-bit Smis in compressed pointer mode.
The range of Smis must be reduced so that pointer compression is not lossy.

Smis are kept in sign-extended form. In the future, we might track down all places that perform Smi comparisons or otherwise assume sign-extension. Allowing garbage in the upper half would make it safe to unconditionally add the heap base during pointer decompression.

Based on cf78da8a48.

Alexander Markov fde0ed2e93 Revert "[vm/aot] Avoid using most Code objects in stack traces with --dwarf-stack-traces"
This reverts commit b6dc4dad4d.

Reason for revert: broke package:vm_snapshot_analysis in Flutter
(https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/76313).

Original change's description:
> [vm/aot] Avoid using most Code objects in stack traces with --dwarf-stack-traces
>
> The following changes are done in preparation for the removal of Code
> objects in AOT with --dwarf-stack-traces:
>
> * Stack trace objects are extended to hold uword PCs (which may not
>   fit into Smi range).
>
> * Scanning stack frames in GC (StackFrame::VisitObjectPointers)
> now avoids using Code objects.
> In order to find CompressedStackMaps it now calls
>   ReversePc::FindCompressedStackMaps.
>
> * Singleton Code object (StubCode::UnknownDartCode()) is prepared as
> a replacement for Code objects in stack traces. It has
> PayloadStart() == 0 and Size() == kUwordMax so it includes
>   arbitrary PCs.
>
> * In --dwarf-stack-traces mode, most Code objects obtained from stack
> frames are replaced with StubCode::UnknownDartCode().
> This simulates future behavior of ReversePc::Lookup when Code objects
>   will be removed.

In presence of multiple mutators in one isolate group, same function might be unoptimized-compiled by more than one mutator. Avoid reinstallation of newly compiled unoptimized code if that happens. Johnni Winther 8467186ca0 [kernel] Initial migration of package kernel wave 1
This CL completes the migration of the first wave of
interdependent libraries in package:kernel, including ast.dart.

In order to ensure non-nullability on AST properties, the Transformer
has been split in 2 variants: Transformer which doesn't support
removal of nodes and RemovingTransformer which supports removal where
allowed by the context using 'removal sentinels'.

Start reviewing Transformer and RemovingTransformer in visitors.dart
since many of the changes are caused by the changes here.

Included in the migration are the mixin_deduplication.dart and
unreachable_code_elimination.dart since these needed porting to
the RemovingTransformer which was aided by opting in the libraries
which only depended on ast.dart.

Johnni Winther 56f46b0659 Remove non-nullable experiment flag from front_end test cases.
This changes the CFE expectation test suites to use unsound null safety
as default to avoid passing --enable-experiments=no-non-nullable to opt
out old test folders.

This change removes most test folders from the 'strong' tester, since
this now only supports sound null safety, which requires all libraries
to be opted in. Instead, the 'weak' tester now runs all test folders.
Additionally the 'outline' tester is changed to use unsound null safety
so that it call be used on all test folders.

The 'fast_strong' tester is removed since it should just be run locally
and it can be run by passing an option to the other testers.

References to non-existing 'shaker' folder has been removed from
testing.json.

Filip Filmar 9f68048cae [vm] Replaces fuchsia.deprecatedtimezone
The FIDL library `fuchsia.deprecatedtimezone` is going away. There are
different and better ways to obtain the same functionality. This change
removes the dependency on `fuchsia.deprecatedtimezone` from the Dart SDK.
Thus setting the stage for the removal of `fuchsia.deprecatedtimezone`.

Adds inspect metrics that allow whitebox testing of the runners. Here's
a sample `fx iquery` excerpt from a running device, showing a dart
runner exposing the same OS diagnostic metrics.

Adds support for asynchronous timezone updates, which was missing from
previous versions of this commit.

```
dart.cmx:
  metadata:
    filename = fuchsia.inspect.Tree
    component_url = fuchsia-pkg://fuchsia.com/dart_test_debug#meta/dart.cmx
    timestamp = 12241877209826
  payload:
    root:
      os:
        dst_status = 1
        get_profile_status = 0
        num_get_profile_calls = 1
        num_intl_provider_errors = 0
        num_on_change_calls = 0
        timezone_content_status = 0
        tz_data_close_status = -1
        tz_data_status = -1
```

This functionality is guarded by Fuchsia integration tests at
//src/tests/intl.

Tested:

1. (compile locally for Fuchsia and deploy)

  ```
  fx test //src/tests/intl
  ```

  This runs the specific timezone tests that should break if the
  functionality itself is broken.

2. Compile dart for Fuchsia and run tests:

   The instructions are here: https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/commit/15dfcca89f0d7eabd60ff049444e203a82dbcb1e

   I used the instructions above to build and run all tests from
   `dart_test_debug` package. The tests were ran against the main
   branch (and then, the tests that failed there were filtered out),
   then the remaining tests were ran against a Dart version that
   contains this change.

  - https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/39650

Prior attempts (most recent first):

- rolled back as it... didn't compile. It turned out, when building the
  change with flutter the compilation process has some different
  settings, so the compilation of the change worked in flutter, but
  didn't in dart. The compilation error is now fixed, and I ran
  additional tests: https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/155582

- rolled back as it had a regression which was not caught by tests.
  Tests are fixed now at
  https://fuchsia-review.googlesource.com/c/fuchsia/+/409840

Fixes #39650

Martin Kustermann 2e2d542969 [vm/concurrency] Use isolate group id as key for incremental compiler for reload
As part of implementing hot-reload for isolate groups, we have to ensure
reloads on a group are performed using the same state of incremental
compiler.

This means we cannot use a specific isolate's information (such as it's
main port) for reloading purposes. Instead we use the unqiue isolate
group id when communicating with the kernel service.

Issue https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/36097

TEST=Existing test coverage, future test when hot-reload is fully
     implemented with isolate groups.

Alexander Markov b6dc4dad4d [vm/aot] Avoid using most Code objects in stack traces with --dwarf-stack-traces

  ReversePc::FindCompressedStackMaps.

* Singleton Code object (StubCode::UnknownDartCode()) is prepared as
  a replacement for Code objects in stack traces. It has
  PayloadStart() == 0 and Size() == kUwordMax so it includes
  arbitrary PCs.

* In --dwarf-stack-traces mode, most Code objects obtained from stack
  frames are replaced with StubCode::UnknownDartCode().
  This simulates future behavior of ReversePc::Lookup when Code objects
  will be removed.

Lasse Reichstein Holst Nielsen 5bcb19125c Add documentation saying that String.fromEnvironment etc. must behave consistently.
AAll calls to those constructors must behave as if there is a single consistent
environment backing them.
This will force compilers to reject programs where that wouldn't be the case,
which is possible if doing modular compilation with different settings.

If a library doesn't check the environment, it doesn't matter whether the
environment was declared differently, the requirement is only that when actually checking,
the values must be consistent.

Jens Johansen f169abcee0 [CFE] Make standard filesystem more synchronous by default; add async versions
This CL:
 * Makes the standard filesystem more synchronous by default.
   This makes reading files for normal compiles faster.
 * Adds a more asynchronous version of `exists` and `readAsBytes`.
   This potentially allows for reading files faster when in a context
   where the files can actually be read in parallel. The client have
   to make the choise though.
 * Skips `Uri.base.resolveUri` when the uri has a scheme. This makes it
   slightly faster in my tests, but does not remove any `.` and `..`.
   Having those when having a scheme seems sort of weird though.
   If this turns out to be a problem we can add it back.
 * Re-orders what the standard filesystem checks in `exists` to assume files
   which seems more likely to happen. This - for files - means less checks
   and should make checking for existance faster. (This was noticed by Siggi).

Using the same measurement procedure as in
https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/85442
timing how long fasta spends on *reading* files when compiling dart2js
(when compiling via the VM) I get a good speedup.

Note that the measurements are in microseconds:
