Carlo Bernaschina ce736d3ef0 Add current rss and embedder name to Observatory
Moved the responsibility to provide MaxRSS and CurrentRSS from the VM to
the embedder.

The embedder can opt-it by setting a Dart_GetEmbedderInformation
callback using the public Dart_SetEmbedderInformationCallback API.

The implementation of the Dart_GetEmbedderInformation should mandatory
fill the version field and the ones it is able to fill.
The name field must reference a constant C style string, it will not be
freed by the VM code.

Alexander Markov ed74405635 [vm] Revise Dart_IntegerToHexCString to avoid dependency on Bigint, v.2
Reapply 3d4838fc70 with the following
modifications:
* define PRIX64 to fix compilation errors on Windows;
* add and use short form format specifiers PX and PX64 to make it
  uniform with other format specifiers.

Original review: https://codereview.chromium.org/2987183002

Description of the original CL:

Until this change, implementation of Dart_IntegerToHexCString()
always created Bigint objects and used Bigint::ToHexCString() to do
the work.

In --limit-ints-to-64-bits mode (with Dart integers limited to 64
bits) Bigints are banned and should not be used.
This CL revises Dart_IntegerToHexCString implementation to avoid
creating Bigint objects for Smi and Mint arguments, so it would
work in --limit-ints-to-64-bits mode.

Also, this CL adds test case to lock down the behavior of
Dart_IntegerToHexCString.

Alexander Markov 41fb3c6d16 [vm] Change TypedData_getUint64 native method to silently cast values
The TypedData_getUint64 native method is used to implement Uint64List
and ByteData.getUint64().

When running in --limit-ints-to-64-bits mode (with Dart integers
limited to 64 bits), this native method and its clients should
silently cast values (with wrap-around) to signed 64-bit integer.
This is the intended behavior, chosen to make it possible to work
with arbitrary data.

This CL changes underlying Integer::NewFromUint64() to do the silent
conversion instead of returning Integer::null().

Another client of Integer::NewFromUint64, Dart_NewIntegerFromUint64 is
changed to handle error without relying on Integer::NewFromUint64().

2. Adjust the Dart front end to not require a 'main' method when the in memory filesystem is used, this allows execution of VM unit tests which all do not necessarily have a 'main' method (integrated CL from siggi)

Alexander Markov bc937b3b6b Reapply CL "Option to truncate integers to 64 bits, part 2"
This is the 2nd attempt to land the CL
abed3c2a70

Original review: https://codereview.chromium.org/2982823002
No extra changes were made. Large literals in the Dart core library
which caused failures during the previous attempt to land this CL have
been fixed separately.

Description of the CL:

In --limit-ints-to-64-bits mode:
* Integer constructors return Integer::null if integer is out of range.
* Error is reported for integer literals which are out of range.
* Dart API is revised to return errors if integers are out of range.

Bigint::IsDisabled() method is introduced to be able to enable/disable
Bigints independently of --limit-ints-to-64-bits mode in future.

Deprecated constructor Integer::NewFromUint64 is replaced with
Integer::New in certain cases.

Alexander Markov 32e226be02 Cleanup unused Dart API Dart_IdentityHash
There are a few problems with this function:
* It returns uint64_t instead of int64_t, which is different from
core Dart library function identityHashCode()
* Dart_IdentityHash truncates negative Mint and Bigint values to 0,
while negative Smi values are converted to uint64_t.

The Dart_IdentityHash function is not used, so we decided to remove it
instead of fixing these problems.

Aske Simon Christensen cec963f028 The current growth strategy for growable arrays allocates a backing array of size 2 at (empty) creation and doubles the size whenever the capacity is insufficient while adding elements.
I collected statistics for the sizes and capacities of growable arrays which are promoted to old-space or survive an old-space gc when running dart2js and Fasta. For these applications, the vast majority of arrays stay empty. More than half of the total object size of promoted backing arrays is backing for empty growable arrays.

Furthermore, since the overhead for an array is 3 words (header, type parameters and length), and object sizes are rounded up to an even number of words, we waste one word for all even-sized arrays.

This CL changes the growth strategy so that empty growable arrays are created with a shared, zero-sized array as backing, avoiding the allocation of a backing array if no elements are added. When the array needs to grow, it starts out at 3 and grows to double size plus one each time: 7, 15, 31, ...

A few places in the VM code need to handle these shared, zero-sized arrays specially. In particular, the Array::MakeArray function needs to allocate a new, empty array if its result is to be returned to Dart code.

Benchmarks suggest that the change improves memory usage by a few percent overall and does not significantly affect run time.

3. The frontend does not send any library with a dart: import URI

   internal linkages in the platform libraries.

4. There is a single dependency in the platform libraries on the

Regis Crelier 5f5a698100 Keep types in signatures of function types properly instantiated as the function
type itself gets instantiated.
Until now, the signature was kept unchanged and the instantiation was reflected
by the type arguments of the function type only. This delayed instantiation
would complicate the implementation of generic functions.
This cl actually removes type arguments for (non-typedef) function types. The
function type is now fully represented by the signature. When the function type
is instantiated, a new signature is allocated (instead of a new type argument
vector) to hold instantiated result type and formal parameter types.
The same applies in the case of typedef function types, however, the type
arguments of the typedef are kept as before. This allows for better printing
of typedef function types and for finalization of recursive type involving
typedefs as type arguments.
