Martin Kustermann 23829adc21 [VM] Fix SEGV in inliner: Reading the metadata of a function can fail
In this particular case, the kernel-isolate, while executing 'main', was
killed during `Dart_Cleanup()`.  The kill is performed via an OOB message
which will trigger an exception to propagate up.  This will cause the
`Library::GetMetadata()` function to return an error object.

Aart Bik c082761e09 [vm/compiler] improve type progagation
Rationale:
Two improvements
(1) using class hierarchy during union operation
    provides a better type progation lattice, e.g.
    taking the union of B,C now yields A.
       A
      / \
      B C
    this immediately benefits propagation over
    phis, but also helps the new (2).
(2) check class with cid ranges now take union
    too (in contrast before only singletons were
    handled by propagation).

Impact:
About 40-80% improvement on covariant typecheck benchmarks.

Vyacheslav Egorov 8629563009 [vm] Fix few issues with field exactness tracking.
- Don't add dependency on fields that are either unitialized or already marked
as non guarded (guarded cid is kIllegalCid in the first case and kDynamicCid
in the second case).
- Exit early from FieldStore if guarded_cid is kDynamicCid (or we are storing
null into a nullable field).
- Don't track exactness of fields which have function type type.

Also move logic for starting to track fields into class_finalizer because we
need resolved field types to make our decisions.

Vyacheslav Egorov 7708989538 [vm/intrinsics] Introduce dart:_internal.uncheckedCast.
This function can be used to avoid checked down casts in the parts
of the code where we know by construction that the type of the
value matches expectations.

Use it to avoid down-cast in the _LinkedHashMap.operator[].

Vyacheslav Egorov 4dc7b30058 [vm] Fix test failures introduced by 6e7bf5efae
* Make sure to use Original field when generating code;
* Make sure to keep invariant that field with known cid should have
known fixed length or no fixed length. This invariant was always
violated by the precompiler - but it only surfaced now because
we started hitting the code path with assertion during disassembly
test.

Vyacheslav Egorov 6e7bf5efae [vm] Dynamically track exactness of the field's static type on X64.
We say that field's static type G<T0, ..., Tn> is exact if for
any value that can be loaded from this field, its runtime type
T is such that T at G has type arguments exactly equal to
<T0, ..., Tn>.

Know if field's static type is exact allows us to apply optimizations
that require knowing type arguments e.g.

- we can fold o.f.:type_arguments
to a constant value if we know that o.f is trivially exact;
- for method invocations o.f.m(...) we can skip argument type checks
on the callee if we know that o.f is invariant (this optimization will
be enabled once multiple entry points CLs will land).

Samir Jindel 37056ccc82 [vm] Disable unchecked entrypoints to implicit closures in precompiled mode.

Alexander Markov 06396cf2a4 [vm/interpreter] Fix PC offsets of bytecode try blocks in PcDescriptors
When looking for an exception handler, PC corresponding to a return
address is used (e.g. it is pointing to the next instruction).
This CL adjusts start and end offsets of bytecode try blocks in
PcDescriptors accordingly.

Alexander Markov 0d1abc535b [vm/kernel/bytecode] Initialize _Closure._delayed_type_arguments to Object::empty_type_arguments()
As TypeArguments == null means 'vector of all dynamic', VM uses special
object (Object::empty_type_arguments()) to indicate absence of
_Closure._delayed_type_arguments.

This CL corrects bytecode to use Object::empty_type_arguments() (via new
constant pool entry EmptyTypeArguments) to initialize
_Closure._delayed_type_arguments when allocating a closure.

Alexander Markov a8155f25fc [vm/aot/tfa] Infer int type, devirtualize dynamic calls
This change improves type flow analysis to infer int types, in addition
to concrete classes (int type is abstract and has 2 concrete subclasses,
_Smi and _Mint).

Also, this CL enables devirtualization of dynamic calls (previously, only
calls with known interface target were devirtualized).

DartMicroBench.PrimeNumber:
x64: +221%
armv8: +461%
armv7h: +47.98%

No measurable impact on Flutter gallery build time in release mode.

Alexander Markov 741f662a60 [vm/kernel/bytecode] Fix number of checked arguments in bytecode calls
Number of checked arguments is corrected in ICData objects created when
reading bytecode, both for instance and static calls.

InstanceCall1 and InstanceCall2 bytecode instructions are replaced with
InstanceCall which works for any number of checked arguments. This makes
decision on number of checked arguments internal to VM and it is no longer
exposed to bytecode.

Aart Bik fe6daed58b [vm/compiler] "fast"-path for x64 division
Rationale:
Since 64-bit division requires twice as many cycles
and has much higher latency compared to the 32-bit
division, even for a non-speculative 64-bit path,
a 32-bit "fast path" makes sense.

Speedup:
About 2x for cases that fit 32-bits. No noticable
slowdown for the 64-bit cases.

Aart Bik 4d5b5bb5a6 [vm/compiler] Fine tune operator and phi handling.
Rationale:
Running an extra call specialization pass a bit later
in the compiler passes stream (after types are propagated)
recognizes more operators, which execute more efficiently.
In addition, unboxing phis seems useful on all archs, not
just 32-bit. These minor tweeks combined improve the prime
number benchmark 3 fold.

Aart Bik 71d96019d1 [vm/compiler] Introduce 64-bit NEGATE - all archs.
Rationale:
This improves JIT and AOT performance of unary minus
and also improves constant folding and range analysis
on negative constant (viz. x / -3 is often x / - (3)).
The SHIFT operator needed some special treatment, since
we have to avoid converting a NON-speculative shifts
back into a deopt.

Alexander Markov 85d85246ad [vm/kernel/bytecode] Revise access to instance fields in bytecode
Constant pool:

* Field constant pool entry is renamed to StaticField
* FieldOffset constant pool entry is replaced with InstanceField.
  InstanceField occupies 2 slots for field offset and field object.
* ContextOffset constant pool entry is removed.
* TypeArgumentsFieldOffset is renamed to TypeArgumentsField

Bytecodes:

* LoadFieldTOS and StoreFieldTOS require InstanceField entry.
* New bytecodes added: LoadContextParent, StoreContextParent,
  LoadContextVar, StoreContextVar, LoadTypeArgumentsField.

This CL is a preparation for compilation of bytecodes related
to instance field accesses.

Martin Kustermann 575a8f8381 [VM] Extend subtype-test mechanism with support for generic methods
Until now the subtype-test cache mechanism did not work (i.e. could
return the wrong result) for partially instantiated generic closures.

Additionally, closures which close over generic methods were always
handled in runtime.  This caused a servere performance regression for
any code hitting this (e.g. code which uses `package:stack_trace`).
