Samir Jindel 0203243381 [vm] Prevent access to non-annotated members through native API.
We will issue warnings and throw an API error when the native API is used to access members which were not appropriately
annotated as entry-points, if the flag "--verify-entry-points" is passed.

Also, fixes Class::Invoke against fields (isn't allowed through native API but
could be allowed with mirrors, and is inconsistent with Library::Invoke behavior).

I've checked locally that this would have caught the bug in
"Wrap the user entrypoint function in a zone with native exception callback. (#7512)".

Martin Kustermann be47aad327 [VM/Compiler/AOT] Bare instructions 9: Improve write barrier on ARM/ARM64/X64
ARM write barrier goes from

   ldrne lr, [thr, #+508]
   blxne lr
to
   blne <offset>

ARM64 write barrier goes from (similarly X64)

   beq +8
   ldrx lr, [thr, #1056]
   blr lr
to
   beq +4
   bl <offset>

It reduces RX on arm/arm64 by around 0.9%

Though the write barrier wrappers stub has multiple entrypoints (one for
each available register).  Because of this, we modify the relocation
logic to support per-call offsets into the target.

To avoid making the assembler code depend on StubCode/FlowGraphCompiler,
we set a closure, which the assembler can call.

Martin Kustermann ca2db2ad53 [VM/Compiler/AOT] Bare instructions 8: Improve AOT code by using pc-relative calls
This CL improves AOT code for StackOverflowInstr/CheckNullInstr:

  * On ARM we can do a conditional pc-relative calls for the stack overflow
    checks, getting rid of the slow-paths entirely.

  * On ARM64 we can do pc-relative calls on the slow path, avoiding an
    extra load.

Flutter gallery size impact (in bare instructions mode):
  * ARM: -3.7% RX
  * ARM64: -1.4% RX

Martin Kustermann f205292227 [VM] Bare instructions - Part 4: Add --use-bare-instructions flag to AOT compiler & runtime
This is the final CL which adds a new --use-bare-instructions flag to
the VM.

If this flag is set during AOT compilation, we will:

  * Build one global object pool (abbr: GOP) which all code objects
    share. This gop will be stored in the object store.  The PP register
    is populated in the enter dart stub and it is restored when
    returning from native calls.

  * Gets rid of the CODE_REG/PP slots from the dart frames. Instead the
    compiled code uses the global object pool, which is always in PP.

  * Starts emitting pc-relative calls for calls between two dart
    functions or when invoking a stub.
    Limitation: We only emit pc-relative calls between two code objects
    in the same isolate (this is because the image writer is writing
    instruction objects for vm-isolate/main-isolate seperately)

  * We do compile-time relocation of those static calls after the
    precompiler has finished its work, but before writing the snapshot.
    This patches all the instruction objects with pc-relative calls to
    have the right .text distance.

  * We emit a sorted list of code objects in ObjectStore::reverse_code_table,
    which will be used by the AOT runtime to go back from PC to Code
    objects (where all metadata, e.g. stack maps, catch entry moves, pc
    descriptors are available).

Régis Crelier cb8c0ab8f5 [vm] Remove MixinAppType VM class and VM code supporting type resolution.
In Dart2, mixin application classes are generated by kernel and type resolution
is performed by kernel. In Dart1, using the VM parser, these tasks were done
during class and type finalization.

Régis Crelier 5f36c5f9d8 [vm] Delete BoundedType class in VM.
In Dart2, type bounds checking is either performed by the common front-end or
by explicitly generated code, but not by type finalization or runtime anymore,
as it was done in Dart1.
Consequently, the class BoundedType is not needed anymore, and malbounded or
malformed types are not seen by the runtime either.

Martin Kustermann d31e83b909 [VM] Do simple block re-ordering in AOT by moving throwing blocks to the end
If we inline something inside a loop which might throw, the throwing blocks
are currently spliced in the middle of the loop.  This CL moves those blocks
to the very end.

This improves a number of typed data benchmarks in dart-aot mode by 5-10%.

Martin Kustermann 08a4e020b3 [VM] Get rid of duplicate return-type-cid information from method recognizer
When @pragma('vm:exact-result-type') was introduced, the return types
specified in the recognized method lists were **duplicated** (they were
in the method recognizer macro lists as well as in the dart source code).

This CL removes this duplication by removing the result types from the
method recognizer lists.

Martin Kustermann 94c325a889 Reland "[VM] Make @pragma annotations work generally"
Currently the @pramga('vm:exact-result-type') annotation only works if
the function is a recognized method.  This change changes that to make
the VM just look if a function has the annotation (no matter if it's
also in the list of recognized methods or not).

Furthermore this CL lets the type propgagator use
@pragma('vm:exact-result-type') annotations to narrow the [CompileType]
set on [LoadFieldInstr]s.

Since the @pragma is a general feature, this CL moves the
`Function::FindPragma()` to `Library::FindPragma` (which is where any
other metadata lookup happens).  We also let the `FindPragma` accept any
of Class/Function/Field objects.

Furthermore the `FindPragma()` function is fixed to handle the case
when the evaluation of the metadata results in an error.
In this case we simply claim to not have found a pragma annotation.

Martin Kustermann 2de63ac01c [VM] Add @pragma annotations on Field, make @pragma annotations work generally
Currently the @pramga('vm:exact-result-type') annotation only works if
the function is a recognized method.  This change changes that to make
the VM just look if a function has the annotation (no matter if it's
also in the list of recognized methods or not).

Furthermore this CL adds a "has_pragma" bit to [Field] objects, similar
to how we have it on [Function]/[Class]es.  This allows annotating
fields with types, as we do with function return types.

Furthermore this CL lets the type propgagator use
@pragma('vm:exact-result-type') annotations to narrow the [CompileType]
set on [LoadFieldInstr]s.

Since the @pragma is a general feature, this CL moves the
`Function::FindPragma()` to `Library::FindPragma` (which is where any
other metadata lookup happens).  We also let the `FindPragma` accept any
of Class/Function/Field objects.

Furthermore this CL adds a bailout if we try to evaluate metadata in
the background compiler, since the background compiler is not allowed
to execute generated code. The bailout should trigger a re-compilation
on the mutator thread.

Furthermore the `FindPragma()` function is fixed to handle the case
when the evaluation of the metadata results in e.g. a language error.
In this case we simply claim to not have found a pragma annotation.

Martin Kustermann a454b5d564 [VM] Use redefinitions for strenghtening, prefer equality comparison over strict comparison
When strenghtening the types in AOT call specializer, we do it via redefinitions
instead of setting a reachingt type on the Value.  This has the advantage that all
uses will get the new type, which improves e.g. StaticCall(_IntegerImpl.*, v1, v1)
where multiple uses can benefit.

This CL also changes the AOT call specializer to prefer equality comparisons over
strict comparisons, because strict comparisons can force boxing (which causes code bloat).

Martin Kustermann aea0aadf41 [VM] Unify AOT optimizations for int/double's
So far we had different optimization logic for int/double's depending on
whether they were [InstanceCallInstr]s or [StaticCalInstr]s.

The de-virtualization by TFA causes instance calls to be turned into static
calls which might cause different optimizations to apply.

This CL unifies the optimizations, so they are applied regardless of
whether the operation is an instance call or a static call.

Régis Crelier 11ad25a1c3 Reland "[VM runtime] Support Smi instances in type test cache."
This is a reland of 6ba3e55ecc

The issue was that SlowTypeTestStub used in precompiled mode did not handle a
Smi instance before calling the Subtype2TestCache stub which does not support
it. See PatchSet 2 for the fix.
Is there a more efficient solution?

Martin Kustermann 16ddfc1565 [VM] Use assert assignable implementation for explicit downcasts
This makes explicit downcasts more efficient by re-using the
optimizations we already have for implicit downcasts.

For implicit/explicit as checks we use the symbol to distinguish which
exception to throw if the check fails.  So this does not actually
require unification of _CastError and _TypeError.

Alexander Markov c78f67cc7e [vm/aot] Use TFA to detect dynamic, non-this and tear-off uses
TFA is improved to detect if a method was called using dynamic selector,
was ever called not via this, and whether the tear-off was taken.
This information is used to remove parameter type checks in AOT.

Less accurate selector-based analysis, which was used previously to get
this information, is now used only if TFA is disabled.

Also, precompiler is improved to omit method extractors and implicit
closure functions if analysis proved that tear-off is not taken.

Alexander Markov 19e2040f35 [vm] Cleanup the ability to specify entry points via JSON and text files
Entry points files (both JSON and text) are replaced with
@pragma("vm:entry-point") annotations.

This change removes obsolete:
* --embedder_entry_points_manifest option in gen_snapshot;

Alexander Markov d44ffba254 [vm/tfa] Stop accepting non-empty entry points json files
Entry points JSON files are deprecated (replaced with pragmas).
So TFA should not require them. As a sanity check, it will complain
if an entry points JSON file is not empty.
