fschneider@google.com fe726e1971 Use parallel move resolver for optimized try-catch.
This CL has no change in functionality and is purely clean up and
refactoring. Instead of manually generating the moves at throwing
instructions in try-catch, construct a parallel move and use the resolver
to emit the native code. This eliminates a lot of duplicated code
from all platforms.

It will also allow to re-use stack space that is currently allocated
separately for each individual try-catch in a function.

I added a few more unrelated minor changes in various parts of the VM
* Simpilify guard code generation
* Resolve refactoring TODO in deoptimization
* Improve names

zra@google.com daf539e2f9 Fixes a couple problems with GC of unoptimized code.
1. Instead of making a pass before the Marking phase,
   this change does not visit code pointers in functions
   during marking. Then after marking, if the code has
   still not been marked, code pointers in functions
   are nulled out.
2. Since code pointers in functions may be nulled out,
   functions are no longer used as proxies for code in
   deoptimization info.

and does not bring any performance benefit for the default configuration it is
best to just remove it.

fschneider@google.com b15bd6fe04 Cleanup of branch code generation (no change in functionality).
This CL is the first step in refactoring the way branches and comparisons
are generated.

1. Move helper functions from flow_graph_compiler_xyz.cc to
intermediate_language_xyz.cc.

2. Remove IL class ControlInstruction. It was only implemented by BranchInstr.
All functions provided are moved to BranchInstr.

3. When generating branch code for comparisons, pass the successor labels explicitly
instead of getting them from the branch. This will allow us to provide different labels
when materialize a bool value of a comparison.

4. Move some common code for IfThenElseInstr from the platform-specific files
into intermediate_language.cc and simplify it.

The goal is to enable if-conversion of arbitrary comparisons. Right now,
the code for == is hard-coded in IfThenElseInstr (and duplicated, too). This
means that e.g. "a < b ? 0 : 1" cannot be optimized.

As a result, IfThenElseInstr can be used to materialize the boolean value of
a comparison. This way the complication of having ComparisonInstr both as a
normal instruction and as wrapped inside a BranchInstr can be simplified.
Comparisons would no longer appear as plain instructions in the IL, but only
wrapped inside either a Branch or an IfThenElse(true, false).

This is based on a previous uncommitted CL by vegorov@
(https://codereview.chromium.org/14251023/).

It is rebased and fixes a bug in the MIPS implementation: BranchOnCondition
requires the comparison result in fixed registers CMPRES1/CMPRES2.

Remove register alias TMP1 (=TMP) and CMPRES (=CMPRES1). It is confusing to
have them around and easy to forget that they are actually the same.

fschneider@google.com ce9573722c VM: Fix checked mode crash (issue 13831).
The AST for static getters differs between parsing the first time, and
subsequent parsings. This leads to a mismatch in deoptimization-ids
between the optimized and the unoptimized code.

This CL avoids creating different ASTs for the same static getters. To allow
better inlining of these getters, the initialization expression is wrapped in a
hidden static initializer-function. As a result the size of such getters is
constant and does not depend on the initializer expression.

zra@google.com 039a4c4078 Disconnects code objects from infrequently used unoptimized functions.
Every 30 seconds (configurable by --code-collection-interval),
before a MarkSweep collection, this change halves a function's
usage count if it is unoptimized. If the function's usage count
reaches 0 as a result of this halving, it sets the function's
code pointers to null. Then, if the code object isn't marked
during the MarkSweep, it will be collected.

This change also checks for null code pointers in various
places, and recompiles/reconnects code if needed.

fschneider@google.com dff262d761 Remove inlining restriction of calls to the == operator.
This CL is the first step in enabling full inlining of == calls.
Previously, calls to any function with the name "==" were not considered
for inlining because super-calls were not handled correctly. Instead
  of implementing == semantics for super calls in the back-end, the parser
now expands super calls to == into

let t1 = left, t2 = right {
  (t1 === null  || t2 === null) ? t1 === t2
                                : static_call(super.==, t1, t2)
}

This change removes a bit of platform-specific assembly. Normal instance calls
to == are still translated as before. Expanding those at the AST level would
incur a too high cost in terms of (unoptimized) code size, and also would be
an obstruction for optimizations of equality. The plan is to expand those
only at optimization time if there is an inlineable instance call to ==.

Until now, we skipped regular code generation for some intrinsics
because the body was unreachable (no slow case).

With inlining and optimizing those methods, we may need the

we always generate the full unoptimized code now, together
with the corresponding deoptimization info.

zra@google.com dad3270d95 Implements far branch targets for MIPS.
This change adds a flag --mips-far-branches, which when set causes
relative branches to be converted to absolute branches by determining
the PC, adding the branch offset to it, and using the jr or jalr
instruction to jump if the branch test passes.

This procedure clobbers the assembler temporary TMP, so TMP can no
longer be used in a branch test or in the branch delay slot of a
relative branch. Because TMP can't be used in a branch test, a
new temporary is introduced CMPRES2. This change replaces TMP with
CMPRES1 or another register where TMP can no longer be used.

Tests that were failing due to a too-far relative have the
--mips-far-branches flag set.

fschneider@google.com dfd21c06e0 Change resolving of instance methods to check early for name mismatch.
The names of actual arguments are checked at resolving time
for a mismatch instead of deferring this check to the function
prologue (emitted as part of the CopyParameters() prologue).

For example:

class A {
  foo({a:42}) => null;
}

main() {
  var a = new A();
  a.foo(b:123); // noSuchMethod: no named parameter named "b".
}

This enables e.g. fast noSuchMethod invocation in the case
of a named argument mismatch.

It also makes the function prologue for instance functions that
use optional parameters shorter by omitting the check for a
name mismatch there.

fschneider@google.com d77d1eac90 Correct handling of named optional parameters with noSuchMethod invocations.
This CL fixes a performance bug with noSuchMethod and named parameters. It also
simplifies the platform-specific code by removing special casing for the
noSuchMethod-dispatcher functions in the flow graph compiler.

Before using named optional parameters would still go through the slow
runtime in certain conditions: When running without inlining, or when
the dispatcher function was not inlined because of e.g. inlining size
heuristics, noSuchMethod would be slow if invoked with named parameters.

regis@google.com 5ffa56b798 Fix and simplify invocation of noSuchMethod on all platforms after the wrong
number (or bad name) of arguments is passed.
The frame of the wrong method (the one invoked with the wrong number or name of
arguments) is not left on the stack and therefore not visible in the stack trace
anymore, which is much cleaner, especially since the leftover frame was not
fully initialized.
This change was already done on ARM.
