Tess Strickland 1b8887080a [vm] Remove only use of Types of top level classes.
The only time we create a Type in the VM for a top level class is as the
"receiver" for a no such method error where the method was either not
found in the top level class or the found method had incompatible
arguments. Unlike other cases, the Dart implementation doesn't directly
use the InvocationMirror receiver for no such method errors at the top
level, but instead just passes it back to the VM.

Now, for the InvocationMirror receiver in the top level class case, we
either

* pass a null receiver if the method wasn't found, or

* pass the signature of the found method as a string, if the arguments
were incompatible, since the only use of the top level class was for
  printing the signature.

When taking a type of an instance with x.runtimeType we can map
internal classes _List, _ImmutableList and _GrowableList to a
user-visible List class. This is similar to what we do for
implementation classes of int, String and Type.
After that, result of x.runtimeType for built-in lists would be
compatible with List<T> type literals.

Also, both intrinsic and native implementations of _haveSameRuntimeType
are updated to agree with new semantic of runtimeType.

Tess Strickland 51649b702d [vm] Allow optimized type testing stubs to be partial.
Previously, the code in the TypeCheck runtime entry assumed that if a
lazily specialized type testing stub (TTS) returned a false negative in
JIT mode, that it should always be regenerated and that regeneration
would always result in different code. In AOT mode, false negatives
instead always cause the stub to go to runtime, even if that false
negative had been seen before, because the assumption is that false
negatives shouldn't happen when the whole class hierarchy is known at
compile time.

However, even in the current implementation of optimized TTSes, there
are cases where this assumption is false. For example, the code
generated by BuildOptimizedSubclassRangeCheckWithTypeArguments allows
for provided type arguments to be type parameters. When this happens,
the type parameter is instantiated at runtime using the instantiator or
function type arguments, and the instantiated type parameter must be
identical to the result retrieved from the type arguments of the
instance. That means that if the instantiated type parameter is not the
same type, but a supertype, of the result, then a false negative is
generated.

This CL changes TypeCheck's handling of false negatives from lazily
specialized TTSes as follows: in JIT, if the regenerated stub is the
same as the old stub, or in AOT, a false negative causes the same fall
back to SubtypeTestCaches as unoptimized stubs. This way, further
checks with the same false negative will be caught via the STC before
going to runtime, assuming the STC hasn't already filled up with false
negatives.

Currently, we only generate false negatives for reasons that will not
change when respecialization occurs due to additions to the hierarchy,
so we do not need to clear affected STCs during respecialization.
However, the previous approach to resetting STCs on reload (in
CallSiteResetter::ResetCaches) is insufficient, since there may be
caches containing reloaded types in non-reloaded code (like the TTS
invoker stub created by the TTS testing framework). Instead, clear
all caches on reload using the same ObjectVisitor as deoptimizing type
testing stubs.

Since we now have to check instruction equality to determine whether
to add to the STC, we now only replace the existing stub if the
instructions are different. This makes it easier to test whether a
TTS invocation on a false positive caused respecialization or not.

This CL also reworks the testing framework for type testing stubs,
1) creating a test case object that stores the particulars of a given
invocation, including expectations, and 2) moving most checks and
access to appropriate data structures into a state object that handles
setup and performing invocations given test cases.

Tess Strickland 6ac17a24e1 [vm] Remove Closure::signature().
Revert the changes in 0920ac88 to use Closure::signature() and
remove the previously existing uses.

Refactor the majority of Object_haveSameRuntimeType out into a helper
function, which lifts the various Bool::Get()s out of the return
statements for easier reading. Also delay retrieving the class out of
the instance until after checking for closure, since we can check the
retrieved cids against kClosureCid instead.

Also move ASSERTs from debug printing of SubtypeTestCache entries
to UpdateTypeTestCache, to ensure they are checked when
--trace-type-checks is not enabled.

TEST=Refactoring, so existing tests. Checked manually on a separate
CL which triggered a case where Closure::signature() was
erroneously returning null due to the direct trip through ptrs.

Tess Strickland 0920ac883c [vm] Ensure only generic closures have empty delayed type arguments.
Closures created via Closure::New() set the delayed type arguments to
the null type argument vector for non-generic closure functions and to
the empty type argument vector for generic closure functions. However,
closures created via the method extractor stub would always have the
empty type argument vector for delayed type arguments. Make the two
consistent by creating two method extractor stubs, one for generic
extracted methods and one for non-generic ones.

With this change, Closure::IsGeneric simply compares the delayed type
arguments against the empty type argument vector. This change also makes
method extraction for non-generic functions slightly faster, since the
delayed type arguments field is not changed post-allocation.

The old version of Closure::IsGeneric was the only use of
Closure::NumTypeParameters, so remove the latter method.

Related cleanups:

* Use similar checks for Class::IsGeneric and FunctionType::IsGeneric,
since they only have non-null type_parameters fields when generic.
For Class::IsGeneric, this avoids having to fetch the current thread
if the class declaration has been loaded.

* Refactor methods that read packed fields in FunctionType into two
methods, a static method that takes a FunctionTypePtr and an instance
method that calls the static method. Replace the methods in Function
that also directly read FunctionType packed fields with delegations to
  the static methods.

* Rework Closure_equals to avoid unneeded handle allocation in certain
  cases for non-equal closures.

* Replace cases that allocates a handle for the closure function only
for retrieving the signature with calls to Closure::signature().

If two mutators concurrently execute a switchable call that targets a
code object which has been disabled, they both go to runtime trying to
fix that switchable call site's object pool.

This Cl ensures we use the same logic as for other miss handlers to
ensure we properly guard against concurrent accesses.

The attached regression test will trigger a segfault - though only
with low probability.

The changes to first land is: Avoid assuming the target can be called
directly. Instead always go through IC Stub when returning from miss
handler. We do that since a call site might not provide ARGS_DESC but
the target might need it.

Usually the identity hashcode is implemented by returning if present and

This works fine in single-mutator environments, though when multiple

one of them wins and all others will obtain whatever hash code has been
set by the winner.

This will matter once we start sharing more objects across isolates.

Vyacheslav Egorov a11d9f17fb [vm] Fix race when setting identity hash codes.
We might interrupt Object._objectHashCode(obj) helper to serve a
vm-service request between checking for unset hash code and setting
a new hash code. While serving this request we might set the hash
code of [obj] (e.g. when generating heap snapshot or in
Instance::PrintJSONImpl). Later Object._objectHashCode will call
Object_setHash, which (on 64-bit platforms) assumes that
hash field in the object header is set to 0 and uses bitwise-or
to initialize it. This leads to a mismatch between hash code that
the first invocation of _objectHashCode will return and the
value stored in the header (because we OR non-zero value set
by vm-service with a value which _objectHashCode intended to
use as a hash).

This CL changes Object_setHash to avoid overwriting or mangling
the hash value if it was already set.

We also fix hash code generation in vm-service to ensure that we
only generate values which are valid Smis because the rest of the
code expects that.

Tess Strickland e2df4d30a0 [vm] Remove non-private uses of TokenPosition::value().
Instead, split each old use into the following cases:

* If the TokenPosition value is expected to be a real token position,
  then use TokenPosition::Pos().

* If the TokenPosition is being serialized in some way, then use
TokenPosition::Serialize() and change the place where the
TokenPosition is recreated to use TokenPosition::Deserialize().

* If the value of the TokenPosition is being printed for debugging
purposes, then just use TokenPosition::ToCString() instead.

That is, we try to pin down when token positions are expected to
be real vs. when other types of token positions can be found.

Another source of possible error when using token positions is to
convert between synthetic and real token positions. In the past,
synthetic token positions may have been based off real token positions,
but that is no longer the case. Thus, all methods that allow
that conversion have been removed, and instead there is a new static
method for constructing synthetic tokens from valid nonces.

This CL also makes it so that Pos() and relational operators on token
positions are only defined on real token positions, to avoid any
assumptions about what the value encoded in synthetic positions mean. To
help with cases where non-real token positions may occur, four helper
methods are added:

* TokenPosition::Min(a, b): A static method that returns the smallest
real token position provided. If neither `a` or `b` are real,
  returns `a`.

* TokenPosition::Max(a, b): A static method that returns the largest
real token position provided. If neither `a` or `b` are real,
  returns `a`.

* TokenPosition::IsWithin(start, end): Determines whether `this` falls
between `start` and `end` (inclusive). If `this` is non-real, then it
must be either `start` or `end` if synthetic, otherwise false.
Otherwise, we mimic the old style of range checking, which means that
non-real starts and ends are treated as less than every real token.

* TokenPosition::CompareForSorting(other): Unlike the relational
operators, provides a comparison between any types of token positions
for purposes such as sorting. Currently only used in the profiler.

It also changes TokenPosition::ToCString() to tag synthetic token
positions, so they can be distinguished from real ones at a glance.

TEST=Existing test suite on trybots, especially the observatory tests
which make heavy use of the debugger and the unit tests for the
profiler/source report modules.

This CL adds a new PAYLOAD_SIZEOF specification to
runtime_offsets_list.h which defines InstanceSize methods given an
method name to invoke to get the header size (i.e., the size of
the object portion before the payload).

It uses this new specification to create appropriate InstanceSize()
methods for objects written to read-only sections of snapshots,
instead of needing separate size calculations for SIMARM_X64.

It adds more methods to Instructions to avoid special casing for bare

Ryan Macnak c5a94db091 [vm] Initial implementation of deferred loading.
(Assignment of libraries to loading units is already done in the kernel generation step.)

After compiling and before serializing, we walk the program and for each Code we assign its Instructions, CodeSourceMap and CompressedStackMap to the loading unit of that Code's defining library. Deduplication may cause Instructions, CodeSourceMaps and CompressedStackMaps to belong to more than one loading unit; in this case the objects are assigned to the root loading unit. Later they can be more precisely assigned to the dominating loading unit.

All objects except some Instructions, CodeSourceMaps and CompressedStackMaps belong to the root loading unit's snapshot. This snapshot is written like an unsplit snapshot, except that when serializing Code, we will write a reference to a stub or null when the Code's Instructions, CodeSourceMap or CompressedStackMap belongs to a non-root loading unit. The snapshots of non-root loading units contain these deferred objects and references to the corresponding Code objects to patch. The types of objects we defer (Instructions, CodeSourceMaps and CompressedStackMaps) usually represent 70+% of the snapshot size.

Bare instructions mode must be disabled when splitting because we cannot have PC-relative calls between loading units. Later we can re-enable this for calls within loading units.

Broken: Compactor probably crashes we can now have an unbounded number of image pages and the compactor assumes a fixed number.

Embedder's guide:

At compile-time, gen_snapshot should be passed --loading_unit_manifest with a path, which will enable splitting and output a mapping from loading unit ids to snapshot output paths.

At runtime, sometime during isolate startup, an embedder should call Dart_SetDeferredLoadHandler, probably near an existing call to Dart_SetLibraryTagHandler. The callback is given a loading unit id, and should eventually call Dart_DeferredLoadComplete[Error].

Victor Lima b951498903 [vm/aot] Allow static methods to have unboxed args and return
Static methods and constructors may receive unboxed parameters.
This change adds a bitmap to the RawFunction object indicating
which parameters are unboxed and their types. Also, the stack frame
bitmap was updated to include new bits for those parameters.

The ArgumentsDescriptor object was updated to store not only the number
of arguments, but also their size, since 32-bit platforms would use two
words for each int64 and double value.

In addition, static methods that return non-nullable integers
and doubles may return these values unboxed.

Dart AOT x64:

TypedData.Uint8ClampedListViewVarBench +11.73%
DeltaBlue +9.32%
Meteor (Intel Xeon) +4.64%

Flutter release android-armv8:

velocity_tracker_bench -2.32% (less is better)

flutter_gallery_readonlydata_size +0.18%
flutter_gallery_total_size +0.13%
flutter_gallery_instructions_size +0.12%

Régis Crelier 5701c4fd3b [VM/nnbd] Remove propagation of library mode to runtime after spec change.
On 1/27/20, the nnbd specification changed weak and strong mode instance checks
to make them behave uniformly across legacy and opted-in libraries.
Therefore, it is not necessary anymore to propagate the library mode in
generated code to the runtime.

Régis Crelier e2e290b4cf [VM/nnbd] Simplify NNBDMode enum class.
NNBDMode does not reflect the semantics (legacy or nnbd) of type tests anymore.
Instead, the semantics are derived from the value of the strong mode flag.
This required one function to be specialized, namely the implementation of
'null is Type' in weak mode in an opted-in library, which still requires
nnbd semantics although run in weak mode.
Relevant changes are in object.h and object.cc:
- methods NNBD_NullIsInstanceOf and NNBD_IsTopType are new.
- methods IsNullType, IsTopType, and IsNeverType are modified.

since the resulting vector depends on the mode.

Ryan Macnak 84db16381d [vm] Remove dead --load_deferred_eagerly and dependent code tracking for library prefixes.
Since Dart 2, library prefixes are always loaded eagerly on the VM.

Also remove reload check for deferred prefixes. This check was added to avoid behavior of library prefixes giving spurious "not loaded" errors after a reload, but now this error can never occur. Resolves a difference in reload between AST and bytecode modes, since bytecode mode isn't surfacing the deferred property.
