Chloe Stefantsova 39810ffbe4 [cfe] Cleanup interface of subtype queries
Under the hood, there is no difference between
`isSubtypeWhenUsingNullabilities` and
`isSubtypeWhenIgnoringNullabilities` by now. This CL makes the
corresponding renames and removals in the CFE and its clients.

Chloe Stefantsova 1f26ddfee2 [ffi] Account for position variance in converting native types
This CL introduces variance-dependent treatment of the `Handle` native
type when converting native types to Dart types. Since `Handle` can
represent any object, it should match any type. To achive that in
cases when `Handle` appears as the subtype in the subtype checks, it's
converted to `Never` in covariant positions and to `Object?` in
covariant ones.

Michael Goderbauer c326065c3f [vm/ffi] Exposes an iterable Array.elements
For the arrays of the Int/Uint/Float/Double types this has been
implemented straight in the ffi_patch.dart file and `elements` returns a
typed-data list view on the original data backing the array.

The Bool and Pointer arrays return helper classes from their `elements`
getter. These helper classes implement the `List` interface utilizing
the `operator []` implementation of the underlying arrays. This is also
implemented directly in the ffi_patch.dart file.

The `elements` getter for array arrays is rewritten in the CFE
(use_sites.dart) to instantiate a helper class to which the size of a
single element of the array is passed (this information is not available
in ffi_patch.dart, hence the rewrite in the CFE). The helper class
implements the `List` interface and performs some pointer arithmetic
with the provided element size to implement its methods.

The `elements` getters for struct and union arrays are also rewritten in
the CFE to instantiate a helper class to which a constructor tearoff for
instantiating the underlying struct/union type is passed. The helper
class also implements the `List` interface and uses the provided
constructor tearoff to create instantiated structs/unions of the
elements in the list.

Last, but not least, the `elements` getter for abi-specific integer
arrays is also rewritten in the CFI to instantiate a helper class to
which a closure is provided to load abi specific integers from the
underlying array data structure.

Alexander Markov 048df9d706 [vm] Fix tree-shaking of mixin applications when mixin has a member with entry point pragma
Cloned static members of mixins are not used (dead code) and usually
tree shaken in AOT mode. However, if static member is annotated with
@pragma('vm:entry-point'), its clone in the mixin application is
also retained. If such mixin application is not used, tree shaker
drops its supertypes which removes the link from mixin application to
the original mixin. As a result, gen_snapshot crashes when trying
to access original mixin in order to print qualified name of the member.

The first part of the fix is to avoid cloning static members into
mixin applications, which would allow tree shaker to remove unused
mixin applications entirely. This change also reduces size of
the non-AOT kernel binaries.

However, instance members of mixins are cloned
and they could be annotated with entry point pragmas too.

The second part of the fix is to clear isEliminatedMixin flag
in tree shaker when dropping supertypes.

Halil Durmus 1a8afa6bbf [vm/ffi] Allow omitting native types for @Native functions
This change simplifies working with `@Native`-annotated functions by allowing the native type to be omitted when it can be inferred from the Dart function's signature. While this was previously supported for `@Native` fields, it now applies to functions as well.

Before this change, you needed to specify the native type explicitly:
```
@Native<Void Function(Pointer)>()
external void free(Pointer p);
```

After this change, the native type can now be omitted if it's clear from the Dart signature:
```
@Native()
external void free(Pointer p);
```

Aravind 8f89bbe1a9 [vm/ffi] Not preventing the transformation for InvalidExpression in ffi
Currently, we just "removed" the actual expression by transforming to
`InvalidExpression('Invalid Type')` if a expression is Invalid. But this could cascade `.address` position errors (i.e transformer no longer able to walk `.address.abc` if the expression is just replaced with empty expression). So unwrapping actual expression from `InvalidExpression` and trying to transforming that actual expression through a recursive call.

select them for inlining through small-accessor heuristic,
but sometimes it does not hit. Marking with pragma ensures
that we are not dependent on specific heuristics to produce
good code.
* Various helpers involved in creating struct instances from
typed data. These we *not* hit by normal heuristics and
consequently not inlined prior to this change. Inlining them
opens possibilities to fully eliminate allocations associated
with `Struct.create(...)` if Struct does not escape.
* Array creation helpers and accessors. They were also not inlined
which meant we were producing unnecessary temporary objects
when reading from inline arrays.

Adds a new `@Array.variable()` to specify that the last element of
structs is a variable length inline array.

This CL does not add any checks for passing structs with variable
length inline arrays by value or directly calling them with
`AllocatorAlloc.call`. Instead, the implementation defaults to what
C does, allocate as if there are 0 elements in the variable length
inline array.

Daco Harkes 4b66657b98 [vm/ffi] address of operator for FFI leaf calls
During FFI leaf calls, the Dart GC will not run. This means that we
can pass pointers into `TypedData` to FFI calls that take `Pointer`
arguments.

After this CL, we have three types of arguments that can flow into
`Pointer` argument in an FFI call:
* `Pointer`.
* `TypedData`: Any typed data including views.
* `_Compound`: A TypedData/Pointer and an offset in bytes.

The is only possible for `@Native external` functions, `asFunction`
does not support passing in `TypedData`. (See related GitHub issues
for discussion. TLDR: FFIgen should generate bindings without config.)

`.address` expressions on `TypedData` and `Array` elements do _not_
introduce bounds checks, even though `TypedData` and `Array` have
bounds information. E.g. `ffiNative(Uint8List(10)[20].address)` does
not throw.

Implementation details:

The CFE analyzes call-sites to `@Native external` functions. If the
arguments are `.address` expressions, it transforms the call site to
pass the compound or `TypedData`. If an additional offset needs to be
applied, the CFE constructs a new `_Compound` with the correct offset
in bytes.

The CFE then also creates a new `@Native external` function which have
`TypedData`s and `_Compound`s parameters. To avoid name clashes, these
functions are postfixed with `#` and `P`, `T`, or `C` for each Pointer
parameter.

TEST=pkg/vm/testcases/transformations/ffi/address_of_*

In the VM, `TypedData` arguments are passed as tagged values, and the
address is loaded inside the `FfiCallInstr`. `_Compound` arguments
turn into two IL definitions, one for the `TypedDataBase` (tagged),
and one for the offset in bytes (unboxed). The address is then loaded
inside the `FfiCallInstr` and the offset in bytes is applied.

Adding the offset in bytes required an extra temp register for ia32.
Also, it uncovered that the temp register in arm32 was conflicting
with the argument registers. However, TMP should suffice instead.

Daco Harkes 0bcb0c934d [vm/ffi] Add _Compound _offsetInBytes field
This CL changes compounds (structs, unions, and arrays) to be backed
by a TypedDataBase and an int offset.

Before this CL, the compounds where only backed by a TypedDataBase.
This leads to the following issues:

1. Access to nested structs required code for allocating new typed data
   views or pointers, which the optimizer then had to prevent from
   being allocated after inlining.
2. Runtime branching on whether the TypedDataBase was a Pointer or
   TypedData increased code size and prevented inlining.
   https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/54892
   This could not be properly optimized if in AOT both typed
   data and pointer were flowing into the same compound.
3. Constructing TypedData views required calculating the length of the
   view.

After this CL, accessing nested compounds will lead to accesses on the
original TypedDataBase with an extra offset.

This removes the polymorphism on TypedData vs Pointer, because the
final int/float/Pointer accesses in nested compounds operate on
TypedDataBase.

Also, it simplifies creating an `offsetBy` accessor, because it will
no longer have to be polymorphic in typed data vs pointer, nor will it
have to calculate the length of the field.

Implementation details:

* The changes in the CFE and patch files are straightforward.
* VM: Struct-by-value returns (or callback params) are initialized
  with an offsetInBytes of 0.
* VM: Struct-by-value arguments (and callback return) need to read out
  the offsetInBytes. Before this CL we were passing in the TypedData
  as tagged value. With this CL we are passing the TypedData as tagged
  value and the offset as unboxed int, from 1 IL input to 2 IL
  inputs. (The alternative would have been to take the compound as
  a tagged value, but that would have prevented optimizations from not
  allocating the compound object in the optimizer.
  The FfiCallInstr is updated to have two definitions for the case
  where we were passing in the TypedData previously.
  The NativeReturnInstr is refactored to be able to take two inputs
  instead of 1. (Note that we don't have VariadicInstr only
  VariadicDefinition in the code base. So the instruction is _not_
  implemented as variadic, rather as having a fixed length of 2.)
* dart2wasm does no longer support nested compounds due to the
  compound implementation only storing a pointer address.
  https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/55083

Intending to land this after
https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/353101.

Daco Harkes 8de00e2137 [vm] Introduce pragma vm:deeply-immutable
This CL introduces a way to mark all instances of a class as deeply
immutable.

In order to statically verify that all instances of a deeply immutable
class are immutable, a deeply immutable classes must have the following
properties:

1. All instance fields must
   1. have a deeply immutable type,
   2. be final, and
   3. be non-late.
2. The class must be `final` or `sealed`. This ensures no
   non-deeply-immutable subtypes are added by external code.
3. All subtypes must be deeply immutable. This ensures 1.1 can be
   trusted.
4. The super type must be deeply immutable (except for Object).

Note that instances of some classes in the VM are deeply immutable
while their class cannot be marked immutable.

* SendPort, Capability, RegExp, and StackTrace are not `final` and
  can be implemented by external code.
* UnmodifiableTypedDataViews do not have a public type. (It was
  recently deprecated.)

See runtime/docs/deeply_immutable.md for more details.

Use case:

This enables attaching a `Dart_FinalizableHandle` to a deeply immutable
object and the deeply immutable object with other isolates in the same
isolate group.

(Note that `NativeFinalizer`s live in an isolate, and not an isolate
group. So this should currently _not_ be used with `NativeFinalizer`s.
See https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/55062 for making a
`NativeFinalizer.shared(` that would live in an isolate group instead
of in an isolate.)

Implementation details:

Before this CL, the `ImmutableBit` in the object header was only ever
set to true for predefined class ids (and for const objects). After
this CL, the bit can also be set to true for non const instances of
user-defined classes. The object allocation and initialization code has
been changed to deal with this new case. The immutability of a class is
saved in the class state bits. On object allocation and initialization
the immutability bit is read from the class for non-predefined class
ids.

Jens Johansen 22d75929bd [CFE/VM] Fix location on ffi native procedure; pass reference
Before this CL the FFI external transformation set a wrong file uri on
the created procedure when the field it came from was in a part.
Possibly this is what caused
https://github.com/flutter/flutter/issues/144176

Adding a CFE test it also surfaced there not being passed a reference.
As I recall we technically disable 'advanced invaclidation' for ffi
stuff so maybe it doesn't matter, but it was easy to add and now the
test is happy.

Tested: Existing test + CFE test added.

David Morgan 897c89e8bc [CFE] Split files needed by package:vm/modular/... into codes folder.
Fix "no exports" exclude for `api_unstable` to actually work: it was mixing up
the path root.

Tested: no code changes, only moves.

David Morgan f1f188cd96 [macros] Split out modular parts of package:vm into package:vm/modular.
The modular parts in package:vm/modular/** will only depend on

  * package:kernel

  * package:front_end
    => Only for auto-generated error code messages
    => Those error codes can be their own dart_library() in g3

Based on https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/353980, with
changes:

  * Exclude package:kernel from "no exports" CFE presubmit.
  * Add package:vm/modular to CFE "allowed deps".
  * Fix import in `front_end/tool/perf_common.dart` and various others.

Tested: no code changes, only moves.
