Slava Egorov 832a205895 [vm] Drop Android 6.0.0 specific workaround
Flutter does not support Android versions below Android 7 (API level 
24).

Simplify the code by removing workaround introduced in 
a013de84e0 to work-around crashes
which only happen on Android 6.0.0.

Slava Egorov 2282387a5b [vm] Fix profiler in PRODUCT mode.
* Make sure to start and stop profiler as mutator pauses and resumes.
* Allow profiler to call Code::GetPrologOffset without crashing
* Make sure to emit mapping with id 0 into the perfetto output if
  necessary, otherwise Perfetto UI can't load the profile

The last item seems a bug in Perfetto UI because 0 is supposed
to mean "value not set".

TEST=tested by running _perf_witness tests

Vyacheslav Egorov 489f63a3bd [vm] Add NativeRuntime.streamTimelineTo
This API allows to programmatically generate timeline information 
including profiling samples if timeline format supports it.

This change also includes Perfetto timeline writer and profiler 
into non-mobile PRODUCT builds. The size of Mac OS X dartaotruntime
has increased by 34352 bytes (0.7%).

This relands commit 553887bc56 with fixes
for Android builds.

Vyacheslav Egorov e2efffa005 [vm] Simplify implementation of native ports
This reland commit 5a32d8bc7c with a fix
for thread leak (Issue #56717): when `ThreadPool` is shutting down
asynchronously the last worker should detach itself to prevent
leaking associated low-level data structures, because no thread will
join it.

A hang in service isolate shutdown (caused by an existing bug) was fixed by commit 157a0dc7f9.

This CL turns native ports into a thin abstraction over underlying
thread pool instead of building them as full fledged MessageHandler.

This allows to easily implement a variation of native ports which can
handle messages concurrently with the given degree of concurrency.
This type of port can be used to greatly simplify implementation of
IOService - which previously had to do its own concurrency management
on top of "single threaded" native ports. This capability is exposed
as `Dart_NewConcurrentNativePort` API.

The new implementation is in general much cleaner then the old one
with one exception: `Dart_CloseNativePort` API has unfortunate design
where underlying message handler is destroyed asynchronously and
`Dart_CloseNativePort` returns immediately without waiting for pending
tasks to complete. Implementing this on top of `ThreadPool` requires
some changes to thread pool implementation.

Vyacheslav Egorov ec6def53de [vm] Explicitly exclude interrupt related state in PRODUCT
This is follow up for the previous change somewhat incorrectly used
FLAG_profiler in ~OSThread to determine whether we need to delete
interrupter related state. FLAG_profiler is mutable in non-PRODUCT
builds so this could create memory leak.

Vyacheslav Egorov a013de84e0 [vm] Reserve larger alternative signal stack if needed
Commit 18bdb28ef6 have configured `SIGPROF` handler on Android
to use alternative signal stack to workaround a [bug][1] in Bionic
implementation of `setjmp`. However when implementing the
workaround we have misinterpreted `sigaltstack` documentation
and assumed that `sigaltstack` configures alternative stack
*globally*, similar to how `sigaction` configures the signal handler.
This is not correct: `sigaltstack` configures alternative stack
for the current thread only.

Nevertheless our workaround kinda worked as intended because Bionic's
`pthread_create` actually assigns an individual alternative
stack to each new thread since [Android L][2].

However older version of Bionic (pre [Android 6.0.1][3]) configured
alternative signal stack which was too small for ARM64. This meant
that non-trivial signal handler could easily overflow the stack
and cause a SIGSEGV when hitting a guard page.

This is what we observe in the flutter/flutter#130003: launching
Flutter application with profiler enabled in a ARM64 emulator
running Android 6.0 causes an immediate segfault in the
signal handler.

This CL changes our code to make sure that alternative signal
stack associated with the current thread is present and is large
enough and allocate a new one if it is not.

Derek Xu f0310b5b7c [VM/Timeline] Change locking scheme used by TimelineEventRingRecorder to prevent races
TEST=Loaded the timeline in DevTools on a debug build with the recorder
set to ring, endless, and startup. Recorded traces on a debug build with
the recorder set to systrace, file, and perfettofile. Ran the
vm/cc/TimelineRingRecorderRace test on ASAN and TSAN.

Martin Kustermann 45038a2e71 [vm] Avoid repeatedly re-setting stack limits on each dart invocation
Currently every invocation of a dart function will set and later on
reset the stack limits. Doing so requires acquiring locks.

Similarly because we have async ffi callbacks (another way to invoke
dart code) the logic was duplicated there.

Though the stack limit never changes for a given [OSThread]. Isolates
can run on different [OSThread]s throughtout its lifetime. But an
isolate always has to be entered on a native thread before it can
execute dart code.

=> We initialize the stack limit when we scheduling an isolate on a
thread and re-set it when unscheduling it.

=> That centralizes the place to one where we have to deal with stack
limits and avoids repeated acquiring of locks on each embedder dart
function invocation.

Martin Kustermann 2e466f66db [vm] Refactor thread scheduling code to better handle exits with active stack
An embedder (or the VM) can exit an isolate via `Thread::ExitIsolate()`
at a point where there's still active state (e.g. dart frames).

Because of this the VM has so far conservatively retained the [Thread]
object of dart mutators throughout the isolate's lifetime. After which
is was manually `delete`ed. We'd never re-use those [Thread] objects (we
do re-use [Thread] objects of non-dart-mutator threads).

When exiting via `Thread::ExitIsolate()` with active state, the mutator
was assumed to be at-safepoint at all levels. It was removed from the
thread registry's active threads. This also means that when e.g. GC runs
it can't use the thread registry to find all active threads it may
need to scan, instead it uses [Isolate::mutator_thread_] of all isolates.

This causes a variety of subtle issues, but the main one that motivated
this change is the following:

If a thread obtains a safepoint operation it means all other mutators
are parked. The thread owning the safepoint can do whatever it likes.
When introducing reload operation safepoints, a thread may want to

    ReloadSafepointOperation reload(thread);
    ...

    // Compile sources.
    {
      TransitionVMToNative transition(thread);

      // Will temporarily exit & re-enter current isolate.
      response_port = Dart_NewNativePort();

      Dart_PostCObject(kernel_isolate_port, ...);

      // Wait on [response_port] for response.
    }

This will cause the reloading thread to own the reload safepoint
operation but still transition states and even exit/re-enter the
isolate. Though this is currently not possible in the way enter/exit is
implemented.

So we'll refactor this fragile code in the following way:

* Move thread enter/exit logic entirely to the [Thread] object.

* Keep used threads in the thread registry's active list.

  => This allows us to keep various state on the [Thread] and thereby
  avoids clearing it when suspending & re-initialing it when resuming

  => It makes nested `Thread::ExitIsolate()` faster as we mainly have
  to enter safepoint (avoid acquiring threads lock, avoid releasing
  storebuffers, ...)

  => It makes nested `Thread::EnterIsolate()` faster as we mainly have
  to leave the safepoint (avoid acquiring threads lock, avoid acquiring
  storebuffers, ...).

  => A mutator can now own a safepoint operation (e.g. reload safepoint
  operation) and still `ExitSafepoint()` / `EnterSafepoint()` safely -
  as those are based on the normal `EnterSafepoint()` and
  `LeaveSafepoint()` APIs.

* We separate

   - Suspend & Resume of a dart mutator (possibly with active stack)
   - Setup & Reset of state only relevant for dart mutators
   - Setup & Reset of state relevant for any mutator

* We unify how the [Thread] objects are freed between dart mutator and
  non-dart mutators: [Thread] objects without state can be given back to
  the [ThreadRegistry] and re-used (instead of being deleted in
  `Isolate::~Isolate`)

* We have capability to free [Thread] objects if a dart mutator has an
  empty stack & re-use for another isolate of the same group.
  (In future we may have N Thread objects for N cores and the threads
   would even maintain their TLABs when switching between isolates)

* Since we allow reusing of [Thread] objects also for dart mutators now,
  we have extensive asserts to ensure they are "clean" when they get
  into the free list and come out "clean" again.

We still need -fPIC in some places because we build a few shared libraries for FFI, so copy some of Fuchsia's GN setup to use -fPIE or -fPIC as appropriate.

Derek Xu 5577eafdba [VM] Add OSThread::GetCurrentThreadName() method
Some fields of `OSThread` are initialized by retrieving information by
calling OS functions. For example, `trace_id_` is initialized by calling
`OSThread::GetCurrentThreadTraceId()`. Similarly, this CL adds the
`OSThread::GetCurrentThreadName()` method and uses it to initialize
`name_`.

Zach Anderson f407419d0a [vm] Reland: Prefix HOST_OS_* and TARGET_OS_* with DART_
This relands https://dart-review.googlesource.com/c/sdk/+/205633
but without renaming TARGET_OS_IPHONE to DART_TARGET_OS_IPHONE.
It also changes uses of TARGET_OS_IOS to
DART_TARGET_OS_MACOS_IOS to be consistent with the rest of the
VM.

TargetConditionals.h for XCode 13 defines several
TARGET_OS_* preprocessor symbols that confuse the
Dart build. There is probably a more targeted fix
for this, but renaming the symbols that Dart uses
will also prevent this problem if more symbols
are added to the platform headers in the future.

Martin Kustermann 1e114a88d0 [vm/concurrency] Refactor SafepointRwLock to ensure unlocking never causes safepoint transition.
The previous implementation of SafepointRwLock has an issue (discovered
by Slava, see bug) with the following code pattern:

    {
      SafepointReadRwLocker locker(...);
      return Foo(); // <-- Returns raw ptr.
    }

After the return expression has been evaluated to a raw pointer
the destructor might enter safepoint and cause GC, which leaves
the raw pointer unchanged (since it's not in a handle).

This CL refactors the implementation to ensure we don't perform any
state transition in the destructor, therefore eliminate the
possibility of GC moving the object we return.

Alexander Aprelev d33e51df3c [build] Support --clang when building dart sdk on Windows.
It relies on flutter copy of clang distribution, same one that is used to build flutter/engine.

It addressed several deprecated warnings from clang compiler for functions like strdup, unlink, etc.

It allows few warnings still since they are triggered in third_party sources.

Martin Kustermann 874588a859 [vm/concurrency] Allow thread pool with maximum size to grow in size if workers are blocked in native code
To avoid deadlock scenarios where an application runs N isolates on a
thread pool with T threads (T < N) where all scheduled T isolates will
do FFI call and block. That prevents any other isolates from executing.

To avoid such a scenario we add support for the isolate-group specific
thread pool to dynamically increase the maximum size if a worker is
running a isolate mutator thread, which calls to C which exits the
isolate.
=> While such an isolate is descheduled but still occupies a thread
   pool worker we temporarily incrase the maximum size of the thread pool.

Martin Kustermann c01f9fb8a9 [vm/concurrency] Make an isolate group use a custom ThreadPool with maximum size
Our TLAB sizes and maximum new space size constrain the number of
parallel mutator threads we can have. Having too many mutator threads
would cause constant races between threads to acquire TLABs.

In reality we should constrain the number of threads to be at most the
number of cores, since at most that many threads can run in parallel
(i.e. at the same time).

This CL extends the TreadPool implementation to be constrained by a
maximum size. Furthermore it makes each isolate group's have it's own
pool with constrained size and schedule all group member
mutator / message handler tasks on that pool.

Martin Kustermann 0a2993687b [vm/concurrency] Make all isolates within an isolate group coordinate on GCs
This CL moves the thread registry and the safepoint handler to the
[IsolateGroup]. This will cause all threads belonging to the isolate
group to safepoint together.

  => We will therefore start to get an idea of the impact this will have on
  pause times.

So far it was only possible to enter a particular isolate (e.g. as mutator
thread or auxiliary thread). This CL adds support for entering an isolate
group (instead of a particular isolate) as an auxiliarly thread. The
current isolate group is available via `IsolateGroup::Current()`.

  => This is a preparation step to let GC threads enter the isolate
     group as auxiliary threads, not associated with a particular isolate but
     to an isolate group as a whole.
